About the Academy

Quality culinary education. Within reach.

Hilda Baci Academy was created to make practical, quality culinary education accessible to people who want to learn, grow and do something with what they know.

01 — Where it started 2021

It started with 30 recipes.

In 2021, Hilda Baci launched Hilda Baci Academy as a live online cooking class with just 30 recipes.

The idea was simple: people shouldn't have to spend millions of naira or dollars or attend a traditional culinary school to learn how to cook better.

What started small has grown into a learning platform that has trained more than 25,000 students.

02 — How it grew 180+

From cooking to the business of food.

As the Academy grew, so did the range of skills it could offer.

Today, students can learn across cooking, plating, food business, costing, content creation and editing, with more than 180 recipes and practical lessons.

The Academy brings in experienced facilitators and specialists so students can learn from people with real-world knowledge — not simply theory.

03 — What we believe

Education should be accessible, practical and empowering.

We don't believe learning should end when you finish a lesson.

The goal is for students to acquire skills they can actually use in their everyday lives, careers and businesses.

And we believe people should have the opportunity to do something with what they learn. That is why empowerment has become such an important part of the Academy.

04 — Beyond learning

Knowledge is the beginning. Opportunity is what can come next.

Over the years, the Academy has awarded millions of naira in grants and prizes to students.

With the support of partners including Truck Central, three students have received fully fitted 40-foot food trucks. Those opportunities have helped recipients go on to establish their own food businesses.

For us, that is what education can look like at its best.

  1. 01 A student learns something.
  2. 02 They apply it.
  3. 03 They build something.
  4. 04 And eventually, they create opportunities for others.
05 — Our vision

Take Nigerian food to the world.

Our long-term vision is to train more than one million people and make Nigerian food and recipes accessible to people around the world.

We want Nigerian food to travel — to be learned, cooked and enjoyed in homes and communities far beyond Nigeria.

The Academy is growing towards that future one student at a time.
